Ganga Vatika is the girls’ hostel at Vandematram Kunj. It carries the name of Mother Ganga because, like the river herself, it is meant to nurture and carry the next generation of women forward.
Our girls come from circumstances most people would call impossible — orphaned by accident, illness, or simple poverty. At Ganga Vatika they find a family of sisters, women teachers who have devoted their lives to the work, and a campus that is theirs in every sense.
They learn academic subjects at the Divya Bharat Shiksha Mandir, vocational skills at the Shobha Smriti Skill Centre, classical music and dance from visiting gurus, and life skills from the women who came before them. The campus is enclosed and safe, and our girls move between buildings without fear.
Many of our first batches are now doctors, teachers, lawyers, and homemakers. Several return as volunteers, and a few have come back to run the hostel themselves.
